SID Synth

This is the site dedicated to DIY synthesizer that I started to build. I'm hoping to learn more about electronics, practice soldering, patience and precision with this project and after that, have a hell lot of fun tweaking that little monster :)

The synth based on Commodore's 64 SID chip SID6582. The chip was used in C64 computers in 80's and early 90's. If you want to find more info about the project go to : http://www.ucapps.de/

I'm going to post the progress of the work in here.

Oct 2007 - Started to think about the project :)

Lots of reading till December.

Dec 2007 - Started to order the parts, LCD, 16 knobs and 4 Sids. All from bulk orders from uCapps.

Jan 2008 - Still reading... put myself on PCB and kits waiting lists on midibox.org forum.

Feb 2008 - Decided to make a minimal setup sid synth to practice before going for 8 core MB-6582

Mar 2008 - Ordered core and sid kit and got C64 in Poland. Soldered them, looking for parts for PSU.

April 2008 - Not much done :) 16 encoders arrived and another 4 sids, I have a whole 8 pack now.

Project on hold at the moment due to lack of time....

All the necessary info can be found on ucapps website.

All the kits were purchased from SmashTV's store
